Novi Police Update: January 2021

Hello,
To the community members in Timber Ridge; Walden Woods; Weathervane Village; Westridge Downs; Weston Estates; Windridge Place; Wintergreen Park; and Yorkshire Place:

I hope that everyone had a happy new year!  I want to take this opportunity to remind you that I am available for any public safety-related questions or concerns you may have.

A quick public safety tip: please be aware of animals in our city, particularly deer, that can make traversing our roads at night downright hazardous.  It is not unusual to see herds of whitetail bounding across Nine Mile, Twelve Mile, and practically every other road in our city as soon as dusk falls.  When it is dark, drive a little slower than you typically would during the daytime, to allow yourself extra room to brake if a creature comes across your path.  Deer collisions are costly, dangerous, and potentially deadly!  In addition, let's all strive to remind ourselves that icy road conditions, like we are experiencing right now, can make it even more difficult to stop in time!
Please continue to keep your car doors locked, and your valuables secure inside your home, in order to prevent thefts.

Thank you for your diligence in making our communities safer.  As always, please let me know if there is anything I can do to be of assistance to you.

Again, happy new year!

Evergreen Tree Spraying on Yorkshire Place Subdivision Courts

April 17, 2020
Attention Yorkshire Place Homeowners,

There are four court islands within our subdivision that have well established evergreens. The island courts are located on Emerald Forest, Avon and at both ends of Davenport. All of them are now showing signs of distress.  An arborist was consulted to determine if the trees can be saved and how we should proceed. It was determined that the trees are suffering from Needlecast, Fugus and Blight. There are also signs of Zimmerman Borers.
With that information, Westside Forestry Services of Novi was then contacted and their arborist also confirmed the diagnosis.  To control the problem and save the trees, a spray must be applied in the April-May and May-June time frame and again in September.  The cost will be less than $800 total.
If the trees continue to be attacked by these diseases, they will need to be removed and replaced. The cost could be as high as $10,000 per island.  If nothing is done, the diseases could also spread to homeowners’ trees.  The recommended spray program will need to be repeated next year.
A date when the spraying will be scheduled is not available.  It is weather dependent and is “Tree Care” so this work is not considered a necessary occupation by the governor.   We will try to inform you if possible, but please be aware if you see trucks in the area, that they are doing the work to protect the trees.  Please allow the workers space to do their the work.

Our VOTING location has changed to the Novi Library

In an effort to better accommodate our current voters and potential future voters, the Novi City Clerk has made significant changes to our voting precinct boundaries. We have added three new precincts for a total of 25 and four new polling locations for a total of 21. These changes will be in effect for the March 10 presidential primary election. Registered voters should be receiving new voter ID cards with their new polling location, new precinct number, or both in the coming weeks. Also please be sure to visit Michigan.gov/Vote to verify your information.

If you have any questions, call our City Clerk at 248.347.0456 or email

Would you be interested in this service? They offer price discounts based on the amount of homes interested.

My name is Brian and I’m with Eco Fresh Bins, Metro Detroit’s 1st trash and recycle can sanitation service.  We will begin servicing your community this spring and would like to offer 1 FREE TRIAL bin cleaning to all residents of Yorkshire good through April. Would you be able to help coordinate this? We can give you our free promo code to disseminate and each resident can then sign up for the free one time trial individually. It's as simple as that.

We understand that most HOA’s require residents to keep their trash bins inside of their garage.  This can oftentimes be extremely difficult due to the bacteria and germs causing the strong odors and attracting unwanted pests such as mice, flies, and maggots.  Eco Fresh Bins offers a simple, effective, and affordable solution to keeping your trash bins and surrounding area sanitary and pest free. Using our high temperature, high-pressure water jet head, we are able to sanitize residential trash and recycle bins right from the curbside.  All of the dirty wastewater is collected back into our truck leaving your bins, community, and families left with a completely odor and germ-free environment.
